a new story by myself and a few others, once more it's a coresspondence between several characters in a stereotypical RPG, the first post will be by one of our newer members (formerly shaos), to give you a slight preface. the character found this enchanted tablet, through it he is able to communicate very quickly with others who may have a tablet, in this case, the other authors and myself.

To whoever finds this note,
My name is Randulf. As i am writing this I sit here with my leg broken and an arrow head in my side. I am bleeding to death. But before i go i want to tell you why, on this parchment i found on my enemy. I was born in the Cold Lands in the north. There i was abandoned as a child, my parents killed by bandits that terrorized our town. I was homeless and surviving on scraps, living like animal. But then They came. I was about 11 winters old. When i saw them i stood in awe as their leader rode past on his horse. His armor was magnificent. But anyway, when he saw me, he looked down upon me from his horse and asked me if I wanted to join him. I nodded. He threw to me a blanket and sword. From that day to now I had served as one of his most trusted Officers. He was Domhild, Mercenary Leader of the Isfrid Army. We fight many opponents of our land and crush all of them! But today as we pass through town and get supplies, an invading army approached. As we fight them and bout to win, the Demon appeared and wiped most of us out! It happened so fast and next thing I know I am here on ground with fallen comrade and enemy... But none matters now. If this letter is to be found, then please take my sword and bury it in my home land. Now i shall await my journey to another land.

To my fellow fallen and newest reader-
Greetings to you, officer Randulf of the Cold Lands. I am Zahaal, one-time lowland battlemage, former revnant of the necromancer malakar, and curator of the enchantment which wraps the parchment you disparingly wrote upon. As you read this you may likely be pondering the workings of such a spell. alas, I had simply attempted to cast the spell upon a mirror and was rewarded with the knowledge that this spell is indeed light based, yet hurts like a bitch when focused. Still, the spell rebounded and struck various chit's and scroll scattered about my abode...though a few of the refracted bolts reached other places to enchant...other...things. I sold the scrolls and watched their progress across the world(yes, it is indeed possible for me to view such things) and waited for their unknowing owners to use them.
I can only assume that you have slain Galnaz, short half-orc mage, had an enchanted saphirre dagger? If it was him, I would ask that you return the dagger to me, it was a loan and I sorely miss it, you need only wrap the scroll around it overnight. As curator, there is much I can do. I do hope that you live, if you would wish aid, hold the scroll to your chest as you sleep, or cling to that feeble thread yourself. Live or die, I'll be speaking with you again quite soon I imagine...
Brothers, it has been some time since I wrote you last, my tablet was shattered and I feared the spell had followed it. I trust that you are all well? No more crippled or fractured than I left you?

HAHAHA. So, there was a surviver. i though i had killed everyone there, but no, someone survived my firey onslaught. Randulf, was it? i hope to see you again, you are very interesting, my arm sings with pain whenever I carve your name. Randulf, Randulf, Randulf, RANDULF!!! Hopefully i will get to crush you. Which reminds me, I woke up this morning finding that I had Accidently Summoned a goblin in my sleep, i decided to name him bob and train him as my manservant. Unfortunetly i stubbed my toe a few minutes later, blowing bob's head off in a wonderful show of fire, blood, brains, and bits of skull. Now I must leave, for I am hungry, and there is a wonderful town just over the hill. I hope the have lots of children, they always taste better that adults.

I can see that this document has magic deeply woven into it. Whoever has done this is either an extremely talented wizard, or a lowly mage expirementing with powerful magic. Either way, I stumbled upon this parchment while I was hunting a bear. That's when I found the corpse, it was recently killed. He was just ordinary woodsman, so I prepared to honor his soul by doing the proper thing, that is cremate his body and spread his ashes throughout the forest he loved. Then I found this parchment. I took it and continued with the cremation. And here I am now. I shall stop for now, I sense that the village to the east is in danger, the forest is restless, some dark force approaches. I shall go and see what it is. Then hopefully I can kill the bear I've been hunting for two days.

To Reader,
I have experimented with this parchment. The only way I can communicate is if I am specifically writing to someone/thing and if I've signed it. Oh yes, I am still alive too. Thanks for the offer Zahaal, but I shall not be having no strange magic save me. A special reinforcement unit had arrived and with them our battle priest. According to them the fact that I am still alive surprised them. But it be fine now. My wounds are nearly healed and i have been given special mission from my beloved Leader. I am to be dispatched alone and find you Mordreth. When I do, I am to kill you. Until then I must take leave now. If anyone else is to know about Mordeth, please contact me. That is all.
P.S. I hope you had received that weapon you wanted Zahaal. I did as you asked and the weapon is now gone from here. In exchange for this small service i hope you may answer any questions I have later on.

to my fellow forsaken and guests,
Arannel, an odd mixture of both I must say. still, I am happy to welcome you to out little fold here and encourage you to feel free to ask me any favor, I have much time on my hands within this swamp.
Randulf, I am as overjoyed to hear that you are well once more as I am at the return of my blade, though I must say, were I in your position I would have asked for something more tangible than answers. regardless, it was no true surprise to me that you survived, your thread was frayed but was far from breaking. I await your questions eagerly.
Mordreth! it is good to hear from you once more, I trust that your energies are becoming somewhat less erratic, humorous as the plague of flaming dogs on the plains was. I have been studying some of the tomes I found within my library that speak of reavers, they are...intriguing to say the least. Sadly, my Marsh has been infested by pilgrims seeking the lost shrine, ignorant foolws don't realize that my home is built within is so of course they see me coming out for a bit of some sage and throw up wards and run around screaming like fool Kobold's. Hunting them has left me unable to research a form of control properly and my heart is not quite in the hunt as of late, I would deeply appreciate if you would dispose of them for me my crazed friend. From what I have heard they have many children, some newborn I belive so it would most certainly be worth your while. It would also present a unique oppourtunity, I know that it is possible to transport items using the tablet, but seeing as your parchment is actually your arm... I think it may be possible to actually transport you entirely.
The pilgrims are praying at the shrine again, I'll let them belive I've been quelled... for now...

Zahaal...you sound familiar. I have heard of you before, there was a fuss over you last time I visited the City of the Men to the South. And if you don't mind, I shall take up your offer. When I went to the village a Daemon appeared, he was foolish enough to challenge me and is now lying in a pool of his own blood near the outskirts of the forest. However, it would seem that in our skirmish, he had scratched my right arm, and whatever poison was in his claws now flows my veins. And despit being a good alchemist I was only able to seal the venom in the arm. Perhaps you can lend your expertise as to what this venom is, and perhaps a potion to cure it? I am ambidextrous, so I can survive without it.
As for Mordreth the Halfdeamon, I would advise you to stay away from the Northern forest and its surrounding villages. I am the reason why they sleep peacefully at night. And I shall kill all who threaten their peace. This goes for Randulf too, us citizens of the Northern Province don't care for armies or soldiers.
Now I must go, the Daemon needs to be properly disposed of, its presence is causing a stir in the forest.

I have not written for few days now. I've been busy traveling and searching for special documents related to my people. Even though i come from poor place, it was place of last type of my people. I travel even more north in my country to find our Spirit Guardian, Fernis. I will ask him to help me in some way to kill you Demon. Our Guardian is one who protected my people, but because of demons like you Mordreth, he had to go into hiding along with others. When I find him, and he bestows upon me how to kill you, I will find you, I will fight you, and I will win.
Arannel, i had missed your first letter due that it will only stay on my parchment for so long. It is good to know other kinsmen are about killing those who dare to challenge us. I hope you can get that poison out. You being an alchemist i can only say that if you also mix Bloodgrass, Laughing Flower and the crushed up berries of Jord, it makes an anti venom that I've used many times before to cure myself of many sickness.
And Zahaal, I am humble man who asks only knowledge from you. As long as one has knowledge of his enemy, he holds their downfall in his hands I was told. So I'll ask you a question today: Are you familiar with my people and their history? Thank you.
Randulf

to my fellow forsaken and any whom may read this,
to Randulf, to say that I know the history of your people would be an understatement without equal. The obsidian order, of which I am one of the few loremasters remaining, was founded with the fall of the K'ran zae, the empire your fledgling race knew as the dark mist. I was present at the coronation of the king of the first empire, died shortly after the first failed assasination, and was ressurected within week of the logros uprising... I know of your race... what depths would you have plumbed?
to Aranel, keep this parchment close to your heart and I shall tend to the rest, the poison is potent yet shall take some time till it fully takes hold...unless you would wish it to, the initial symptoms shall cause an immense increase in your muscle mass and reflexes, with a possible loss of sanity... it is a worthwhile risk, I myself underwent the poisoning as my induction into the order, though I did not have the benifit of a ready antidote...
to Mordreth, I must inform you that it is not so much teleportation as it is..a forced passage through the scroll, it shall be quite limited. alas, the wall has been mended and I shall not be expunging you of your human fragment so please, save your anger of denial for the pilgrims. I shall draw you forth with the arrival of you next message
It would seem that the pilgrims are not visiting as I had originally surmised, they have begun to erect a village of sorts and from what I hve discerned they are planning to turn my bog into a bay of some sort. nevertheless, I have been reading through a rather intriguing scroll as of late, it is a spell of some sort that has some root within the elder majiks yet is written as a tanno song, not any song mind you but some sort of summoning. The title is of an older script and simply reads "fallen convergance", an intriguing title if you know anything of spellcraft...
Bah, it is late and the children have taken it as some sort of rite of passage to steal objects from my home, I set off now to cleanse them from my foyer, their ramblings have become annoying and I am in need of blood to renew a seal...

Zahaal,
I have killed some of you pilgrims. Amazingly one of them was a skilled swordsman and got lucky, he managed to chop my finger off. I wanted to play with him some more, but sadly the resulting ice spell froze everything solid for 100 feet, only to be shattered by the wind. I am going to have to rest now, the spell almost killed me. Soon I shall leave, how can you live here Zahaal, it is too boring.

Thank you Randulf, I have forgotten about the berries of Jord, for they do not grow in these cold Northern lands. And Zahaal, if what you say is true, then none of your magic could save me. I am of the ancient species, an ancient race born when the Daemons themselves were born. Whatever poison is in their blood is deathly fatal to my species. There is only one cure for me, and it is what Randulf has said. It would seem that I have to travel to the Western lands to search for these berries, for that is the only place that I know of to find them. Hopefully I won't come across anything to challenging, I only have one arm, and my bow is now useless. It seems I need to brush up on my sword play. I have just finished disposing of the Daemon's corpse, now I must prepare for the journey, I leave tonight.

I have not long to write this. I have found Fernis, and he has agreed to help me in quest to kill demon. I am to first be helping him find old relic of my people. He says this 'Tate' will help him with my quest. Zahaal, I'll ask, since it was actually within my people's empire, where it may be now. I believe Fernis said it had been picked up by the "Chains of Holy Order" army. Please tell me if you know anything on this.
Oh, and before i forget, I have acquired a small companion on my journey. It is a Otak. He brings me good mood and provide good nose for food. I have no name for him yet (I think it's a him, heh). Anyway, that's all i can provide for today, i will be unable to answer for some time, but can read.

to my fellow forsaken,
Randulf, I must first ask, which "Tate" do you speak of? fifteen were crafted, though six have been destroyed, another four now lie within demonic or draconic horde's, two more are within the sundry catacombs that comb through my marsh and one lie's in the High Imperial on Irnstaad. The last two are...beyond normal reach to say the least. As for the "Chains of Holy Order", that sect of the imperial cult collapsed...three-hundred and fifty years ago as of last month, the army splintered off and have since formed the "Northwind" bandit syndicate. The cult's artifacts however still lie within their monastaries and it would not surprise me if one of the two lost "Tate's" lie within one.
Arannel, I can honestly say that I'm surprised to hear that you were born of the "Deraegoth" ritual, which site to your lineage emerge from? I myself took part in the Irnstaad conjuring though thankfully was spared involvement in the massacre. As for the poison, the strain is from a Kzachnien soldier Daemon and is characterized by the manifestation of eggs beneath the flesh, they're easy enough to remove by knife though I understand that the "Black Spawn" that emerge are particularily vicious is hatched benath the flesh. I offer my services once more, you need but keep the scroll close to your chest whilst you sleep.
Mordreth, the marsh is far from boring, you've yet to reach the inner glade. I can assure you that the rift there will entertain you for some time. I do thank you for your aid in removing the pilgrims, in return I scribed runes 'round your joints while you thawed, they should aid you considerably in your casting. If I interpreted the scroll correctly then you should now be able to control the nature of the spell, not the target or the intensity, but at least the method. Regarding the spell you mentioned, I do seem to recall one similar to it though I must search my library to find it. Also, cease taunting my Drake, the ressurection ritual took weeks for me to scribe and it has only just risen, you can find live ones in the glade.
I was examining the pilgrims belonging's and discovered a small trove of uninvested obsidian swords, I have begun begun impregnating them with spells and have come to decide that I have far more than my needs require. Thusly, I am giving the excess away. Most are shortswords though there are a few scimitars as well as one particularily elegant tanto, once I have completed the first stage of imbuing they will be unbreakable and ready for whatever energies they need be aligned with. Simply let me know and I shall send you one post haste, I'm enjoying the possible enchanments.
