Epic Fails in Left 4 Dead

Has anyone ever failed monstrously on any last level on Left 4 Dead? I don't want to feel like I suck at the game anymore.

yep, was playing No Mercy, as Bill, on hard difficulty with three other(real) people.

The helicopter arrives, we all leap off the "fort" and just run for the ramp, a smoker nabs me just as I reach it, Francis hops out shouting over his mike "no man left behind!". A Hunter knocks him off the rooftop before he made it three steps, left him hanging from the edge. Louis hops out to head for me, by this time I'm almost drawn completely to the smoker. The tank gets him as he reaches the end of the ramp. Zoey went for francis, gets pinned by a Hunter.

This all happened in less than a minute, we were all dead and screaming at eachother over vent another minute later.

*facepalm**screampalm*

It happened to me twice. I felt like a failure because one of the fails wasn't even on the last level.

First Fail
I was playing co-op with a friend, and we were on that level before the final rooftop battle.
A boomer appeared from the shadows, and I was the unlucky soul to shoot it. He exploded on me; attracting a massive horde of zombies. I shot wildly at them, while I was backing up. Little did I know that my next step would put me off the building. I asked my friend to help me. He has a screwed up definition of the word help; all he did was throw a Molotov at the zombies that were still attacking me. A wall of flame blocked me from any help; any person that tried to assist me would erupt in flames and have to immediatly back away. So, I was stuck in that doomed situation. My friend got pulled in by a smoker, and the 2 computer players got mauled by hunters.

Second Fail
We were on the last level, and the helicopter had just arrived. My friend and I were on the platform that housed the gatlian gun. The tank had already killed two of our other teammates, so we were the last one standing. We made a last desperate sprint to get to the helicopter. I made it to the last platform before the helicopter. I thought I was going to make it. But then a smoker grabbed me, and dragged me away from safety. I yelled at my friend to help me, and he just ignored me and ran to the helicopter. The ending credits started to roll and only 1 person survived.

Damn. People just cant get good help these days.

some odd things I've noticed when playing as certain characters:

Bill: people won't stay the fuck out of my line of fire
Zoey: I get healed by other characters waay to readily. 50 health? got a medkit? oh no need, I'll get that for ya. I get hit by the smoker more often too, valve = anime fans?
Louis: people give me pills, constantly.
Francis: Hates everything.
